Raise your hand if you’re stressed out!
The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are far-reaching and scary. From school and business closures to hectic grocery runs and working from home, things feel pretty overwhelming right now. The best thing we can do? Band together and take care of each other.
This will be our first post in a series on “How to help” during this uncertain time. Have an idea on “How to help” you’d like us to cover? Email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will work on it!
First up, How to help: Support Small Business
Pandemic or not, supporting small businesses is so incredibly important to our economy and sense of community. We’re lucky to live in an area where there are so many amazing small businesses to enjoy. Now is the time to help them out! Here’s how:
Interact on Social Media
Interacting with your favorite small businesses on social media provides awareness, morale and free marketing! Comment on their posts, write them reviews, share their stories; It’s easy, doesn’t cost a penny, and helps them more than you know.
Purchase Gift Cards
Purchasing gift cards to your favorite restaurants, cafes and shops puts cash into those businesses instantly, allowing them to tackle expenses and payroll during tough times.
If your favorite small business has an online shop, use it! Not only do you get the items you need delivered straight to your doorstep, you know you’re benefiting an actual person and their community. Many small boutiques have been offering Instagram walk-through shopping as well. Follow their accounts, DM them, and purchase something that will brighten your day and theirs!
Restaurants and bars are closed for normal service, but many are still offering curbside pickup and delivery. This helps keep your favorite spots going and aids in paying their delivery drivers, kitchen staff, hosts and servers you know and love. Plus, you don’t have to cook (an added bonus!)
